About Dr. Torman
Dr. Rand O. Torman has been an actively practicing chiropractor since graduating from National College of Chiropractic, in Lombard, Illinois, in 1978. In addition to earning his Bachelor of Arts degree in biology from Boston University in 1974, Dr. Torman also holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Anatomy, as well as his Doctor of Chiropractic degree.
While maintaining a private practice in New Bedford, MA., Dr. Torman furthered his post graduate education, attaining Diplomate status with the American Board of Chiropractic Orthopedists, and becoming a Fellow of the Academy of Chiropractic Orthopedists (F.A.C.O.); he also holds Diplomate status with the American Academy of Pain Management (D.A.A.P.M.); is a Fellow of the American Back Society (F.A.B.S.); and, is a Certified Chiropractic Industrial Consultant (C.C.I.C.). He is also certified in Impairment Rating and Disability Evaluation, and has an Advanced Proficiency Rating with Activator Chiropractic Manipulative Technique.
Dr. Torman has served on numerous committees for chiropractic licensing in the state, has participated in Peer Review and has performed as an independent chiropractic examiner. He holds memberships in many professional organizations within the chiropractic profession, including the International Chiropractic Sports Federation and the American College of Chiropractic Orthopedists. He is a past president of the Southeastern Massachusetts Chiropractic Society.
In addition to being active in his profession, Dr. Torman has been a member of, and has served as an officer in several civic groups, including the Board of Directors of the Zeiterion Theatre. He is an officer in the Triumph Wedge Owners Association, an International club involved with Triumph TR7 and TR8 automobiles. He is also a member of several classic sports car clubs, both locally and nationally, and can be found tinkering with his cars in his garage on cold winter nights. Dr. Torman also enjoys playing golf, and spending “making memories” time with his family and friends. Dr. Torman is a professional drummer and percussionist, and can be found making music with several bands two or three weekend nights a month.
Dr. Torman was a chiropractic patient for many years before he became a doctor. Having suffered from a low back injury first as a young boy, and then again as a young man, he has first hand knowledge of back pain and various treatments. Dr. Torman continues to have back and neck problems, for which he receives ongoing chiropractic wellness care to help maintain his health and well-being. Because of his history, when you have an injury or pain, Dr. Torman knows what you are feeling. When he recommends care for your problem, it is based on years of successful treatment for others as well as himself.
